Our Dream Project MASTECH, The Silver Jubilee memento of MAST has become a reality. Words are simply not enough to express our sincere gratitude to one and all of you for gracing the occasion with your presence. However, on behalf of MAST let me thank each and everyone for making MASTECH a grand success.

As you may know, MAST stands for the Middle East Alumni of Ship Technology.34 years ago, when the Department of Ship Technology was established in Cochin under the guidance of Wilhelm Pieck University, Rostock, nobody guessed that the products of the department would become the most Sought After" Naval Architects in the International Shipbuilding sector. 9 years later,when one such of our community would come to settle in the UAE by 2008. 24 years ago, when MAST was formed, one never foresaw that this community would grow to consist 90%of all Naval Architects residing in the Middle East.

With the realisation of our dream project,MASTECH,It is of great satisfaction to note that this has virtually become the global meet of Naval Architects from the Department of Ship Technology, CUSAT and the first technical gathering of Middle Eastern Maritime fraternity.We are also blessed with the greetings from our teaching faculty including the representatives from Wilhelm Pieck University, Roastock, the one and only institution that has helped to mould us into an internationally recognised elite group of Naval Architects with German Shipbuilding knowledge.

As the maritime hub of the Middle East,Dubai has witnessed many maritime conferences in the past, but it is for the first time that such a technical conference has been organized exclusively for the promotion of Shipbuilding Technology in the Middle East. It is also for the first time that such an international technical conference has been initiated by a group of real technical experts from the Middle East maritime community.It is also for the first time that such a maritime conference from the Middle East is being telecast globally for thousands of others to watch from any part of the world. It is also for the first time that the Digi Booth concept is being introduced. And it is also for the first time that the technicla excellence awards have been constituted.

All these have only been possible by the hard work of our members, financial support from our sponsors, quality papers from the presenters, presence of our well wishers, blessings of our teachers and the event management strength of Marine BizTV.

Let me thank them all once again...Thank you very much indeed!
